Snow Much Fun!

After a week of a stomach bug passing through the whole family, the kids were beyond excited to get some time to play in the snow from the blizzard that hit Delaware on Friday and Saturday.  I was particularly surprised at how much Atticus enjoyed the snow as Lily and Ish definitely were not so keen on it at his age.

Finished Objects

I recently finished new winter hats for Little Ish and Liliana.  Each of them picked out their yarn.  Little Ish I directed toward Madelinetosh DK as I had been wanting to knit something with it and he settled on the Leaf colorway.  It was such a beautiful yarn to work with, and I have plenty leftover that I may make something for the new baby with it.  Liliana had been begging for a blue hat so when Ginny opened her etsy shop for the last time of 2015 and it was filled with beautiful yarns dyed with indigo the choice was easy.  I showed Lily the listing for worsted weight indigo yarn and she was so excited and decided on the spot that it was the perfect yarn for her hat.  Mind you half way through me knitting her hat she said, "Maybe I should have picked pink yarn instead." Four yearold fickleness that disappeared as soon as she put the finished hat on her head.  She has declared it "the softest hat ever" and wears it around inside the house a lot just because she likes it so much.

In reading news, I am currently about halfway through Stuart Brown's Play: How It Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soul.  It isn't what I expected, but I am really enjoying it and am finding a lot of the information useful.

Patterns used:
Windy City Hat (Liliana's)

A Birthday and a Photo Shoot

Atticus turned 2 on Saturday and had a grand time celebrating with friends Saturday evening.   On Saturday morning, in attempts to get some good Christmas photos before the lights came down at Longwood Gardens, we spent an hour or so doing photoshoot there.  Atticus wanted pretty much nothing to do with it and finally allowed me to get a couple of decent shots when I offered to buy him a dessert before we left.  I generally don't like to bribe the kids, but in this case it seemed worth it.  Photo shoots are not easy on little kids.  It is a lot of time to follow directions and pay attention.  They were perfectly happy to go play in the Children's Garden after changing into more suitable clothing and thoroughly enjoyed the sweet treat before we headed home.

And an addition to the "This is Why We Don't Do Christmas Cards" file...
